I was wondering if i should buy my pc off amazon, i'm also wondering if there is a chance that i might get scammed, like when they say its a intel i5 when its really a intel i3, if i said that wrong, it was because i don't really know much about computers, and thats why im on this site.

Amazon is pretty safe. For making matter simpler in terms of resolving issues (should there be any) make sure it says 'sold by amazon'. For instance here's a snippet of a gaming pc (generic) sold by amazon.

It clearly states ships from and sold by amazon. As opposed to this snippet from another gaming pc available on amazon.

This one says ships and sold from quantum wireless. Not that quantum is a bad company, I've never done business with them personally. However if you run into issues, amazon will tell you it's between you and them. Where if it was shipped and sold by amazon themselves you have more recourse and amazon stands behind the products they deal with directly.

If your buying from a trusted seller and has good reviews, go for it. You can report scams on amazon, so you could get your money back if it's faulty.

You shouldn't be getting an i3, if it says it's an i5 it should be an i5 or else contact them and let them know a mistake has happened. The specs of the pc should be on the outside of the box it ships in before you even open it, if the actual pc specs are different from the box it's likely a packaging goof by the pc manufacturer rather than a 'scam'. Amazon is a reputable online marketplace similar to a brick and mortar store, not a back alley swap meet type of place.

Now if it says it's an i5 and you think you're getting a quad core cpu but only end up with what you think is an i3 because it's dual core with hyper threading, be aware there are i5 models out there (mobile) like that. Like the i5 5200u and it's not a scam, it's how the part was made by intel. Part of that comes from knowing what you're buying. If you're unsure it's best to research ahead of time and verify you're getting what you think you are or to ask on forums like these where people can help clear it up for you.
