I have an AMD rig
FX 4300
ECS Mobo
8gb DDR3
HD7850 1GB Video Card

I plan to upgrade to intel

My friend is selling me his i5 4570 for 80$
and a brand new i3 7100 cost 120$ which then I still have to buy DDR 4 sticks because DDR3 is not supported on 1151 intel sockets.
A brand new i5 is out of my budget and I don't want to go ryzen because I want to try intel

So my question is about the performance between the two? I heard that i5 4570 is still much faster than the i3 kaby lake?

My concern is performance on games and overall which is faster?

It's a little faster overall but the i3 7100 will put you on a better platform with better upgrade-ability. If all you're worried about is which one is faster then yes the i5 4570 is faster. Though if you want to upgrade later you're really better off dumping either platform and going with a Z370 or later.(if you wait longer to upgrade) Sure there are pros and cons to both but I think the Core i5 4570 will suit you better. Of course I believe even a Ryzen 3 would be...

No, it doesn't come with a mobo so I have to buy brand new mobo 1150 socket for 50$.

Is the i5 4570 much faster than i3 7100 7th gen?

Of course I believe even a Ryzen 3 would be better because you can overclock, you'll be on a new platform with great upgrade-ability, you'll benefit from faster DDR4 RAM, You'll have M.2 slots, and depending on the motherboard you could have a lot of newer and better features. It's not about trying Intel or sticking with AMD it's about which one is better for my needs and my budget. Though I really believe that the Intel Coffee Lake Core i3 8100 is the best option if you can afford the Z370 motherboard and DDR4 RAM.

I was also looking at i3 8100 but does it work on ordinay 1151 socket mobo? Z370 mobo seems to be too expensive?
I've seen 1151 mobo that only cose 45$-50$.

Please advice

You need Z370 for it unless you wanna wait until next year when the less expensive motherboards come out.
