Hi guys! I'm new here I built a PC before but I built a FX8350 not the best but does the job. I'm not a crazy fan of the blue vs red team. I just want to play games so my question is should I build an old i7 3770 I can get it at goodwill for 125 with micro atx but I'm going to buy a z77 motherboard from a guy I met on CL or should I do a new Ryzen 5 1600 with a x370.

Also a guy is selling me a 980ti hybrid for 350$ Which I might get I missed out on a 200$ Titan X :( he had for sale then he had Titan black too for the same price idk if I should take a chance on that

Ryzen's gaming IPC falls between Sandy Bridge and Ivy Bridge. You're looking at a locked 4 core 8 threaded processor and an unlocked 6 core 12 threaded. With more cores and threads, and the capability to clock higher than the Ivy processor, I can see it beating it in games. However, Ivy would beat it in others as well.

Yeah I know I have to buy a new motherboard and ram I will be getting a x370 if I do and buy corsair dominator ddr4 3000mhz but I'm asking is it worth a little more to do that or Cani achieve better with an old lga1155 i7

just for a more modern build it would be better to go with ryzen if your not looking to invest in a more modern intel setup.

as others have mentioned on here ryzen matches the performance of ivy and haswell CPU's

They also match performances of a i5-7600k

See I was thinking that too but a guy at microcenter told me that they will be not selling for LGA1151 soon so I was wondering going older or new Ryzen 5 1600 plus I like the stock cooler if I do go with the LGA1155 I can use my corsair 100i v2 with it
