Should i change motherboard

I've moved my Lenovo K430 Desktop PC into a new case.

Problem is some of the front panel connectors are different than on the case so not all the pins are shorted. The motherboard has 8 pins for HD Audio and my case wire for that only has 4 pins.

Should i get a new motherboard?

No but the front audio doesnt work.

It doesn't work because you didn't connect the 4 wires to the required pins. I doubt Lenovo used all 8 pins for something that requires only 4 pins, unless the connector includes something else like USB.

they did. my old case used non standard connectors for it

I may be wrong, but the headphones normally use 2 wires and the microphone also uses 2 wires. You can't figure out which pins are what? It should be relatively easy if you inspect the wiring in the Lenovo case (a DVM would be useful).

i just said my old case used proprietary connectors

You mean the motherboard doesn't have pins? If so, then buy a new motherboard. I've swapped cases before, but the motherboards always had pins that could be used to connect the FP wires. I usually had to split the connectors, but they worked fine.

Use a DVM to figure out the wiring; besides they all have colors which makes it easier.

it has pins but my new case wires dont fit it

You mean the pins are too large for the connectors or you'd need to split them to connect each wire individually?

theres too many pins to put it on

That's why you need to figure out which pins were used. Insert something in the headphones connector that will cause a short and then use a DVM to find out which 2 pins are shorted out. Then do the same for the microphone. This isn't rocket science if you know how to use a DVM to check for shorts.

u dont get it. the connector wont physically go into the pins

Then the pins are not standard and only a new motherboard will resolve the issue for you.
