About a week ago, my computer stopped booting and would open only the bios. Booting from a USB or optical drive still works which suggested that it isn't a motherboard issue. I tried reinstalling windows, and it worked. I updated everything including all drivers and downloaded the soft wares i lost like antivirus etc. The computer worked perfectly fine for a couple of days, but now it went back to the same issue. Only bios booting. I can re install windows, but i suppose that it would work for only a couple of days. Could the SSD be malfunctioning? Or could the HDD be causing the problem although the software is stored on the SSD? Could it be the small restore done? When i restore from the HDD it only brings back documents and save files and stuff like that to the SSD and i don't suppose it copies any software related files. Should i just go and swap my SSD or could the problem be coming from some place else?

NOTE: I have windows 7 home basic

Hey there, Thegame741.

This sounds pretty generic so I'll give a few suggestions in order to try and narrow down the possible causes for this to happen. This could be caused by the HDD (if the drive is having issues) as you've suggested, so I'd recommend that you try booting with the HDD disconnected, to see if the same thing happens again. You could also try resetting/updating the BIOS to see if anything changes. Another option is to switch the SSD to a different SATA port and connect it with different SATA cables, in case it turns out it's a loose connection or a faulty cable. If none of this works, I'd suggest that you reinstall Windows again with the HDD disconnected during the installation process. After that go ahead and backup any important data which you might have on the HDD, just in case. When you're done, download an SSD diagnostic tool and an HDD one (preferably the manufacturer's) to test both drives for errors. If you still have no clue of what could be causing the problem, please try to pay attention if this starts to happen after installing a specific driver or a program, because there could be a conflict with one or two of them and thus cause similar issues.

Please let me know how everything goes.
