Should I do a triple monitor set up, or a 4K monitor?

Hi, I'm ordering a 1080 and was wondering what would be better, a 4K or a triple monitor 1080p set up? Just looking for some pros and cons

Solution

I'm not sure, but there's no need to worry about running a triple 1080p monitor on a 970, it is definitely possible. I'm currently looking for a 1080p IPS monitor, which is more graphical than a normal 1080p monitor. In my opinion, if you were to get a 1080, you should get a 4K monitor, and I'm not sure about any distortion, I doubt it, but if it bugs you having different monitors (Unless you get similar sizes and models) then I wouldn't go for the 4K with 2 Side 1080p Monitors. You could always get 3 2K monitors.

First off, it depends on your budget, as 4K Monitors aren't exactly the cheapest.

Second, basically any 'High End' graphics card can run a triple 1080p setup, in fact, I have one running on my 970, so getting a 4K monitor will definitely be worth it, and you could always get a couple of 1080p Monitors on the side?

I have a 970 right now and was worried about frame drops so I didn't go through with the triple monitor set up yet. Would the monitors on the side look distorted at all if the center monitor is running 4K?

With my triple 1080p Setup, I can still run games on maximum settings (Or at least the ones I play, GTA 5, Far Cry 4 etc.)

So I was definitely not limited by it, and I was extremely pleased at it.

Is that instead of buying the GTX 1080? Or are you still getting that and getting a triple monitor setup.

But 3 of the same 1080p Monitors would do very nicely, and if set up correctly, will last you a good few years.

Oh no that's with the 1080, I've been saving up for a while so I'll do both especially because I already have a good 1080p screen. I think it'll look great with battlefield one and gears of war

Yeah definitely, although the GTX 1080 will be a little overkill, but you do you. Just get 2 of the same monitors you have currently, and your setup will be amazing.

Maybe consider the ultrawide 21:9 monitors. It's like having 2 monitors in 1 without the bezel interruption. Works great for games that do support them and movies are a great experience.
