[SOLVED] Should I get a NVME SSD or Intel Optane for my new Z390 Motherboard? Or both?

Solution
Or neither. Optane doesn't make much sense for most users, it's a fast cache drive to speed up performance of a standard hard drive so you can have a cheaper large hard drive and still get performance like an SSD - some of the time.

for most people though it makes sense to buy an ordinary SSD and put the OS and software and maybe a few games on it - getting SSD performance all the time for the same sort of price - and adding a normal hdd for bulk storage and games where it matters a lot less.

So between the two - go for the NVME SSD. But if for the same price as say a 256GB NVME SSD you can get a larger capacity SATA based SSD either 2.5" or M.2 then that may be a better option still just because then you get to put more software on...
