i am getting some logitech z313 speakers and, for gaming, i like my sound, but i am wondering if a soundcard would have any effect on the sound since my speakers are low end
the sound card i have in mind is also fairly low end

thanks in advance

Modern integrated sound cards actually are quite good.

To get any significant change in sound, you'd need different sound equipment.
For example speakers with digital audio input would eliminate background noise coming from speakers (if you're sensitive to such thing).
And 5.1 audio system would give you true surround sound. That's a significant difference in audio experience.

But sound card alone with your current speakers wouldn't give you anything.

I had a problem with my on board audio (surround stopped working).
I HAD to get a new sound card, so I picked up a nice Sound Blaster.
The audio quality is much improved.

But I have a $400 5.1 speaker setup that allows me to hear the difference.
