I am deciding between the EVGA Superclocked GTX 1070 (https://www.amazon.com/EVGA-GeForce-Support-Graphics-08G-P4-6173-KR/dp/B01GX5YWAO/ref=sr_1_3?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1482796418&sr=1-3&keywords=evga+1070) and the Gigabyte G1 Gaming 1070 (https://www.amazon.com/Gigabyte-GeForce-Graphics-GV-N1070G1-GAMING-8GD/dp/B01H0WU884/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1482796593&sr=1-1&keywords=gigabyte+gtx+1070). They are both around $400 and seem very similar. Is one able to overclock more? Is the overclock difference noticeable? I've also heard about the EVGA GTX 1070 FTW (https://www.amazon.com/EVGA-GeForce-Support-Graphics-08G-P4-6276-KR/dp/B01I60OGUK/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1482796418&sr=1-1&keywords=evga+1070) and I do not understand the differences. Is it better/More future-proof? Is it worth the extra $30? Thanks!

I would definitely choose EVGA over gigabyte. I personally hear that gigabyte's products aren't of very high quality, but they do come with good aftermarket cooler. I have heard from some of my friends that their gigabyte card had burned out after about a year or so of usage so I would stick with EVGA. EVGA also has a better warranty as you can take apart your card without voiding your warranty (Most manufacturers will refuse to send you a new card if your current one is broken and warranty is void). You may ask what advantages taking your graphics card apart has, and that is a good question. If you take apart your card, you have many options for aftermarket vga cooling from companies live arctic accelero and watercooling. Taking apart...
those already come overclocked

remember that overcocking only will give you at best 10 fps extra on certain games but will cost you electricity and noise if those don't have big slow moving fans

the gigabyte has more fans making better cooling i think, i would choose that one over the evg, just for that

i have heard the same thing but about evga 😀

anyway, i have one evga here and planning on getting another soon

still those fans do look great, but since it is a not that power hungry gpu, the evga might just do fine with 2 or one fan

that one you listed looks good, but it also depends on if you buy faster ram and the mainboard won't support his maximum speed, so you need to select one based on that parameter, if the mainboard acceps ddr4 2400 and you put ddr4 3000, well, it will be forced to run as 2400, if it cooperates, some will not even work
