Should I get the Samsung 850 EVO or the Kingston SSDNow V300?

Im looking for a boot SSD and Im not sure whether the extra $40 for the EVO.

That depends - if you really want/need higher speeds then go for the 850. But really, I don't think you'd see much of a difference (there would be one, but it wouldn't be that noticeable if you've never used a super fast SSD before) between the two.

Definitely Samsung! Don't know how is the situation now, but in February this year they started to use the 20nm Micron chips instead of the 19nm Toshiba chips so the speed has become much slower (ssdnow v300)... If you really don't want to spend more you can still go with the Samsung 840 EVO (just make sure that you have the last firmware)
