I sorta have asked this question before, but only 1 person half-responded last week.

I want to get the 3500+ 939 AMD64 chip and probably the MSI board being that it was given the highest THG rating and for all the reasons that I would want in a mobo.

Question is: Is this thing really worth buying in spite of the fact that AMD and VIA have not said a word about pci-express? And, is this new 939 chip the new version that will be used for the pci-express boards? Or will it have to be revised. I dont want to get those fx-53 guys, I mean, those are too expensive.

Anyone know about the life-expectancy of a 939?

Question 2: does this chip utilize ddr2 ram? and, would Corsair's 4 4 4 ddr2 ram work better than its regular channel 2 2 2 5 400 ram? I know the MSI k8t board im looking at has 1000 FSB on it, but im wondering if its worth it or should i just stick with 2 2 2 5 corsair as planned??

Socket 939 should be around for a while. And current socket 939 CPUs will be compatible with future PCI-Express socket 939 mobos

No Athlon64 supports DDR-2.

bam. there you go, no pci-express. Initially hearing this bummed me out. Then i began to realize that the only component pci-express works with is something I dont really care about; the 16x pci board, who cares? I mean really now, who really cares?

Anyone else notice when ATI talks about the x800 card, it talks about how fast IT is and how fast the VPU is? yeah, thats cuz if they took that chip out and put it on a 9800 card with the same ram, it would get very close results.

Another scam. sux to see. I read a LOT and talked a LOT with THG oddnet guys last night.... seems to me that agp 8x is darn fast enough if you push it some more.

which now they wont.

Now that I read about how the fx-53 mega $$$ chip is a 939 and compatible/fully usable with the 110 dollar MSI board k8t one i want, I can tell that 939 will usable in the new pci-express boards.

THanx for tips!
