Should I go for CPU or the GPU?

Guys I recently got enough money to either spend on a gtx 1080ti (or may be gtx 1070ti) or else on a i7 8700k (water cooled) I already have the required mobo, currently I have a i3 8100 and a gtx 1050ti, and I can only afford one of the above (gtx 1080ti or a i7 8700k). Mostly I would use my pc for gaming(cs:go, dota, and sometimes may be gta and all), moreover I would also use it for casual programming stuffs and some other casual things.
So should I upgrade my cpu or the gpu first considering that I can afford only one now and wont be upgrading again for about 3-4 years.

P.S. Ik that the games I play wont need either a powerful cpu or a powerful gpu, but even then I would like to know what should I upgrade first, Thanks in advance :)

Solution

from 1050 ti to 1060 is not a meaningful upgrade.
i3 8100 is quite good, so until you go 144HZ (and ever partially beyond) no point putting $ in CPU.
wait for specs and benchmarks of RTX 2070 it MIGHT offer better bang for the buck.
go for 2070 if its good, else 1070 ti.
month later take predator screen.

I'd personally upgrade the Graphics Card but it depends what resolution you play at. The i3 8100 should last fine for Gaming over the next 3-4 years, especially if you stick to highly optimised games like GTA V or light esports titles like CSGO and Dota. Whereas Graphics Cards tend to progress much faster as do the graphical requirements in games. But the 1080 Ti would be extremely overkill if you're only playing at 1080p and don't intend on moving up anytime soon. Overall though you'll definitely noticed far more performance improvements in most games with a 1080 Ti + i3 8100 over 1050 Ti + i7 8700K. Hope this helps you with your decision! :)

Well I play at 1360*768 reso. Mostly because I have been playing cs for a long time (1.6 days) on a CRT monitor(O dont play on a CRT anymore )
As a result I wont upgrade my monitor anytime soon as it will affect my gameplay, So I would still continue to play at 1360*768 for the time being unless my monitor dies

Solution
NEW GPU line up aane wali hai islie Intazar kar taki Or sasta ho jae GPU prices, Fir Upgrade karlio

because when the rtx line up will launch like rtx 1050-1080ti then prices will drop even more and right now with that CPU getting a gtx 1080 ti is pointless because you might face bottlenecking issues.

the new GPU line The sub is about to come, so waiting for it will be cheap and cheap?

yes somewhat if ray tracing is what your looking for in a video card, my point is, if your expecting the 1080TI to drop in price you will waiting for a long while as the 980TI still sells for retail on ebay as 3 years old used cards...

Not holding my breath on that idea to happen.
