[SOLVED] Should I go from 1079ti to 2060?

We have no clue if that’s true. Apple says the MacBook is “20% faster”. Companies can advertise whatever they want, so I wouldn’t buy anything until we have reviews and benchmarks from users

We do have benchmarks, that's how we know that, when not using ray tracing, it trades blows with the 1070Ti.

And we know how it performs with ray tracing at 1920x1080 on Battlefield V. Whether the hit to performance is worth it, well, that's for any particular user to decide.

If it were my decision, I wouldn't go for the new card if I already had a 1070Ti.

Solution

They have the gameplay of Battlefield V with High Settings and DXR on Medium at 1080p (Upscaled to 1440p via DLSS). It runs. While Nvidia's claims should be taken with a grain of salt, to suspect that they're telling a boldface lie is thinking too little of even them.

The 2060 is only comparable with DLSS on (at least thats what we're told). If it isn't on, it sits a good deal behind the 1070ti. Most games dont and wont have DLSS for a long while. IF or by the time DLSS becomes common, the 2060 will either be end of life or unable to keep up because of how much games will grow in that 2 year span. Stick with what you got and wait for the next gen if you are only looking to replace it with a 2060.

I do agree with everyone else. Nvidia does some shady shit. Remember when they bought physx to keep AMD out of the market? I do. They have also been caught smugging the numbers.

Lo and behold, benchmarks. It's not that surprising, even. The 2080 gets around 1080ti performance, the 2070 gets around 1080 performance, and the 2060 gets around 1070ti performance. Big whoop.

The "leaks" regarding AMD's supposed new cards seem like wild speculation rather than anything realistic to me. I don't imagine AMD announcing Ryzen 3000 or Navi/Vega 2 at CES. As for the upgrade you're thinking about, I'm not sure if it's a big enough jump to justify it, but it might be to you.
