Should I keep my i5 2310 or pick the 4670k?

Hey!

My current build is as follow:
Core i5 2310
Gigabyte GA-B75M-D3H
GTX660 2GB

I'm thinking about upgrading to a GTX970, but I wonder if my base build has gotten too old.
I can snap it to an old computer skeleton I have lying around here and try to sell it for the cost of the I5 4670K + GA-Z97M-D3H kit, but is it worth the hassle? Will I get that much improvement on games and stuff?

I currently play:
-ArmA 3
-CS:GO
-GTA V (soon)
-Far Cry 4
-Dying Light
-Carmageddon Reincarnation
-BF4

please consider the rest of the build as good enough. Please don't use U.S. prices as I'm not in the best country.
Thank you!!

Yes,it's safe to skip the 4670k for now. 4670k with " k " is good,if you have Z87 or Z97 chipset. (CPU is made for overclock). Without " k" ,CPU is not meant to be Overclocked.
Yes,you can skip 4670k and save for new GPU. GPU...

Thanks for the answer!
Currently, can't, unfortunately. But I'd be able to if I sold the CPU + MoBo, building it on a computer skeleton here (Decent CoolerMaster PSU, good case, 500GB HDD and a HD6450), but apart from the cleaning and switching the kit from the cases, I'd need to use my credit card to purchase the 4670K build (which is a pretty big cost hit around here), so I'd not be without a computer while I sell the 2310, and advertise, deal, etc.

Is it really worth the hassle to get the 4670k kit, or am I fine with a 2310 for another year or so? Thanks!

Hey Randor, thanks for the answer!

Strangely I've been hearing this for quite a bit... 4670K overall seems to be 33% more powerful than my 2310, and that`s stock, without overclocking it. So I guess it's safe to say I should skip the 4670k and save for something better later?
Thanks again for the answer! Best wishes

Yes,you can skip 4670k and save for new GPU. GPU will come in more handy than processor, for now. Later, you'll can upgrade your CPU,together with your motherboard,if you'll want to.

All best,
Randor.

Many thanks! This seems logical. My CPU barely gets pushed while playing any of these games (apart from ArmA 3). Hope GTA V isn't too CPU intensive!
All the best for you, too! Thank you all for the answers

@ GTMOraes

If GTA V will optimized correctly,it shouldn't eat as much CPU. Game would be more GPU intensive. I've heard Arma 3 is optimized correctly, that's why,a lot of players are having FPS issues.

No problem,GTMOraes.

Have a good day!
