There is nothing wrong with an i5 8600K.

It will outperform the R2700X on some applications (games and single thread).

You would be unlikely to notice the difference in real world usage. Unless you absolutely need the extra threads, there is no benefit to you.


Depends on the task. If it is a heavily multi-threaded task, something like video editing or rendering, 3D animation, etc, then yes, the Ryzen 7 2700X beats the 8600K, because the 2700X has more cores. But for gaming, the 8600K will either give you better or similar performance to a 2700X. Either way, you have no solid reason to return that 8600K, keep it.
