Hi, I recently got two "real silent" fans, and im just wondering if there is a difference between plugging the fans into the PSU or straight to the motherboard. I want to do whatever is best to keep the motherboard as cool as possible because at the moment it is getting very hot. (about 50-55c while browsing the internet and posting this, up to 70c when in game)

If you have an unused 5.25" bay, you could purchase a fan controller. The decent ones run $25 - $40 tho.
But, it will run of the PSU, and allow you to control the speeds of up to 5 different fans:

Motherboard will allow variable fan RPM's if the fan has a three or four pin connector, while the power supply will deliver full power (max RPM) all the time. If the fan only has two wires on it, you're better off just using the power supply as there will be no automatic RPM control. However, you said you want to keep the board cooler, and drawing more current through it to power the fans could increase the overall temperature (they really don't pull a lot of current so I highly doubt it), but it's still something to think about.

Well at the moment i have both my fans plugged into my motherboard, They were plugged into the power supply and it was keeping everything cooler than it is now. I guess because it is not going at full speed right now. Are there any programs i could use to change the RPM of the fans?

Sitting idle with both fans in the PSU:

CPU: 19 - 30 c

GPU: 48 c

MB: 44 c

HDD: 34 c

Sitting idle with both fans into the motherboard:

CPU: 35 c

GPU: 50 c

MB: 55 c

HDD: 38 c
