Should I purchase a 4K monitor or a 1440p monitor?

So I found a good price on both an IPS (Asus PB278Q) 1440p monitor and a TN 4K panel (Asus PB287Q). Now I definitely won't be able to game on neither 1440p or 4K as I have a GTX 760, but for now I will plan to just watch movies and surf the web until I'll upgrade my system maybe 1 or 2 years down the road. For "futureproofing", where I'll be using my monitor for many years down the road, would the 4k monitor or 1440p be a good idea?

Solution
If the only thing you plan to do with the monitors is watching movies and surfing the web, then the 4K would be the best choice. However I really wouldn't future proof right now because 4K prices are dropping rapidly so in a couple of years the price for the 4K monitor will be much lower. So with that said if you have the money go for 4K, otherwise go with the 1440p monitor.

I endorse buying a monitor upgrade before the graphics upgrade.
You get a better idea of what you need.
If your games are fast action shooters, better stick with tn panels and lower resolutions.
60 fps is the current max with a 4k monitor, and you probably need better than a gtx980TI to do that.
1440p OR 1600p is probably good.

If you go 4k, consider a larger 34 or 40" monitor. Text size on the more affordable 27" units are unbearably small.
Do not go the 4k tv route as a rule.
Philips makes a nice 40" true 4k monitor.
That would be my pick.

Damn, the Philips monitor is $1000 even after a $400 savings, which is unfortunately out of my range.
