So I ended up purchasing an EVGA GTX 960 SSC because it was on sale.
I have a HP Envy 700-329 http://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c04319096
I purchased the gpu at Canada Computers. The man who sold it said that my 460w power supply would be fine with the SSC edition. He said he was even able to run the evga GTX 960 ssc on a 330w power supply. Now I am confused. Should I still try to install this graphics card?

You really can't, but you don't need to worry about it. Your power supply is absolutely fine with a GTX 960. It only needs a 400W power supply. Plug it in and enjoy.

I heard that the SSC editions can consume more power thats why I was wondering

A 960 needs a 400w minimum. A 330w can break your components. If I were you I would get a PSU that has about 500w just to be safe. Also I don't know which PSU that is because that came with the desktop.

Preferably I would rather not spend more money to upgrade PSU unless I absolutely must so I wanted to know if my 460w stock PSU is still capable of running this gpu. I also have an intel i7 4770 CPU that came with my HP envy
