Should I return my 290x?

Hey all. Have a gigabyte 290x at 1100/5800 and I am disappointed with its performance. 3d mark shows many people scoring way higher with 290x's. Normaly I couldn't care less what other people get except that I am unsatisfied with its performance IN games.

Over clocking the card the tiny bit to 1100/ 5800 took my 3d mark graphics score up to 12100 (from around 10000), but it is still a fair way off the 14500 which is "normal" going from the results.

Anyone shed any light on this?

Gigabyte 290x @ 1100/5800 @ +25mv/ +30%
Gigabyte matx z97 board
16gb 1866mhz corsair memory.
4770k @ 4.4ghz @ 1.21V

You can't really return it if it's not faulty, it's the silicon lottery, you may have just gotten a bad overclocking chip

i would guess its low too considering my 780 gets 11900 something in the firestrike graphics score.

3dmark may just not like amd though.

While the 290x will be faster than a 780 out of the box, because the 290x is so aggressively overclocked at the factory, an overclocked 780 is expected to score higher than an overclocked 290x....at least that has been my experience, this guy's too (see 8:40 mark for bennies).

Yeah in not sure what's going on. After tracking down some fellow 290x owners it looks like these results are normal and the 3d mark ones are skewed, and by a lot apparently.
