Hi everyone,

So last week was my birthday, and my family brought me a 42 inch tv. I was thinking about plugging my current PC into it so I can play video games on 1080p, since I have 900p monitor.
Here are my pc's specs:

FX6300, Gtx 760 gigabyte, 8gigs of ram at 1600, 1tb hdd and an asrock 970 extr 4 mobo.

I have a good social life, and I find myself feeling worse and worse about playing on a pc, idk why, it just happens. So yesterday I was thinking about selling my pc and getting a ps4. I don't really care about the graphics (obviously I do care but the main thing for me is to play on decent graphs with rock solid fps), I just like to chill around sometimes and play some games. I think a console would be a much better option for me, I wouldnt have to worry about upgrading the pc and adjusting the video options and ****, I could just sit in front of the tv with friends and play. I know I seem like I've already made up my mind, I just wanted to know what you guys think.

Btw thx for sharing your thoughts and have a nice day!

"more consistent" you get more consistent frames on your console than on your PC? Now I'm really starting to doubt your experience and even if you have a rig comparable to the one in your sig. I've owned and played pretty much every console from every generation and never could I say that games were smoother, ever. It's a ridiculous claim.

I don't need to "act like" desktops are superior, they are. Facts - Better graphics, upgradable, more games than every console combined, can play consoles games as well, cheaper peripherals, you don't have to pay for internet access twice (xbox live and PSN are per month, pc is free), wide range of mice, game pads, steering wheels, joysticks, ect., games are cheaper, backwards compatibility, content isn't locked to device, highly customizable operating system and hardware, nearly unlimited app ecosystem, ect.

It's not an aid to your cause to state "its not favoritism" either. It has the opposite effect that you intend.

"Some games are just meant to be played on console buddy" Last time I checked you can hook up a controller to your PC. I would expect even the newbies to PC Gaming would know this. I guess it's like the console version except it would look better, have mods, and run smooth. How about you tell me, what's the advantage of playing a game targeted at controllers on the console vs the PC?

I agree with thor220, technically a desktop is far superior to consoles because a desktop does everything a console can, does it better, and then does a bunch of other things the consoles can't do. Although, consoles are a better fit for people who prefer a simpler experience. Computers can be complicated and expensive, especially to people who have extravagant social lives and don't have time for the whole high-end computer scene lol. So pretty much, specific desktops are superior to consoles, depending on the owner of the PC because of how much time or money they have to sink into gaming and all the other forms of electronic work and entertainment offered by desktops.

I confess I have a bit of a passion for Japanese history and language. So, I do indeed know that san is used as a title of honor and respect. I know that applying san to the end of my name would be considered arrogant by most Japanese people but it was too difficult for me to pass up on such a unique username. I, however, have not studied the language as much as I would like to. I know the absolute basics. Most of the books I've read on Japanese history is on the Sengoku-Jidai period. I actually have a friend who started calling me Matthew-san a few years back and when I was creating my username for Tom's Hardware I knew I had to use it.

My 2nd is German. Took that from middle school all the way up to college. I guess now I've a language in 3 distinct regions. Still nothing compared to some of my family though. One uncle's a translator that knows 9. He can only does Latin based languages though.

Wow, nine languages? That man is a genius. I have a brother who studied German for four years during high school. It would be nice to learn German so that when he insults me I'll know what he is saying. I studied Latin for a year and a half during my freshman and sophomore year in high school but dropped it because I just really didn't like my teacher and the style she taught. I loved Latin though. I hope to get back to it again someday.

Yeah, he's pretty crazy. When he wants to learn a new language he just lives there for a while and can pick it up just by listening. Rarely ever see him due to this though.

A good/bad teacher can make or break a class for many people. It's pretty bad in certain degrees like computer science where most of the work is hands on. Bad teachers will just assign you a book and tell you to do the exercises during class. Such a lazy thing to do.

Exactly, that's how I felt about my computer programming classes I took. I was given an online guide and then the programs needed to create programs. There wasn't much instruction involved. That's kind of how I got into computer tech. I've always had a desire for knowledge and an addiction to learning so I after I finished computer programming (and was thoroughly confused on how programming worked by the end of the year) I did my own studies. Most of it involved reading online articles, forums, and YouTube videos but I've taught myself most of what I need to know about computers and how they work.

I'll have to do the same with Latin and Japanese as well. Except I study mostly from books.

I'm still very impressed by your uncle being able to speak nine languages, he is most certainly a linguist and perhaps part genius. Very few people know and understand that many languages.

Yeah, classes like that just feel like a waste of money. I don't know how these guys are certified to teach with the way they treat their classes. People pay really good money for the privilege too.

If you need a good Japanese resource, JapanesePod101 is the best I've found. It's free and by far the best with spoken words and fun lessons.

Yeah, it's pretty good. I just wish they had some games. For anyone below the advanced level, the only thing I can find is memory match and typing games on other websites. Maybe not even games, how about an interactive calendar or counting chart. Just something fun to mix up study sessions.

I have a controller for pc. xbox controller with wireless reciever.. And what I said is correct on consistent frames. Take Unity for example. The game is poorly optimized even my rig would Drop retarded frames at some point. I don't have the ps4 version of this game, but from what I heard and seen. it ran fine. I understand that computers you can do much more, but the whole point is as of right now graphics and gaming experience, ps4 is not far behind. For the guy who made this Post his rig is "FX6300, Gtx 760 gigabyte, 8gigs of ram at 1600, 1tb hdd and an asrock 970 extr 4 mobo." and he wants to trade in this for a ps4. PS4>this.

No, no, no lol. Unity does not run well on PS4. In fact, the word is that the Xbox One runs Unity with a few higher frames than the PS4 because of the type of memory that the Xbox One uses DDR3 instead of the PS4's GDDR5 (which is strange because the GDDR5 memory is supposed to be newer and better). I can't remember what the whole rage is about about I believe there are some videos that show what I'm talking about. PS4 owners have complained that they are oftentimes playing in the teens (frame rate) and there are select instances when the game runs at single digits! rehadaniel's computer would actually run Unity far better than either console because the consoles suffer pretty badly with game, especially the PS4. If he wants to trade in his PC for the kind of quality he'll get with Unity on PS4 then he's gone mad! Check out the link:

Assassins creed running on maxed everything. Nvidia experience, does it for me. The frames were inconsistent as hell. Thought it was a computer issue, but found out that everyone bought the game had the same problem.

Indeed, this happens every time next gen consoles come out. A few games with lazy developers will pretty much ignore how the game plays to get it to market. Pretty much everyone is having these issues from Xbox one to PC. It's best to ignore games like that as to not promote that kind of behavior.

Are you gaming on all 3 144 hz monitors at once? A 970 can only handle one 144 Hz monitor on new games. You can get away with the new call of duty on 3 monitors though.

Im running them at 60hz. 144 is too strong. Too much stutter. I only play racing games with 3 monitors and bf4 when im bored. Most of the time I use only one. I use my 780ti sli rig for my 4k tv, but it was the biggest mistake of my life. I have to run game with Vsync at 4k res bc some of the games are just too strong for 4k. Im probably going to sell the rig. Most of the time I run 1080p on my 4k. For my 970 rig I need another card to kinda fix some unoptimized pc games. I work and play games. I have no life. no friends. Not gonna lie.

When hooking up your PC to your T.V. you should always set the resolution a few ticks below max. You'll get a sharper picture by doing so.

I think the best option for you would have been to get a cinema display. It pretty much replaces the need to have more than one monitor and it works great for games and movies. It's wide enough to cover most of your view too. Running multiple monitors is a pain for games unless you have bezel-less monitors.

A bit on V-Sync. You only want V-Sync on if your PC can maintain a stable 60 fps. Otherwise it will cause stuttering. At 4k it should be turned off.

very true on the stutter, thats why I game on 1080p on a 4k. D: and As for the cinema tv suggestion, I need the 144hz for CSGO because it is the main game I play when Im on my desktop. I replaced the IPS panels for them, I couldnt stand the high response time and low hertz. I also do alot of multitasking work on a pc, thats why I need multiple monitors.
