Question Should I take the chance and test a possibly damaged CPU?

After about 15 years and over a dozen AIOs in various systems, I had my first leak. Motherboard shorted out with copious amounts of smoke and has clear scorched, melted, and corroded spots. The Ryzen 5 5600x got some water between the pins and there is discoloration, but no detectable arcing damage.
I only have one system with a suitable mobo to test the suspect 5600x, but would be seriously inconvenienced if the CPU killed the motherboard I used to test it.

Anyone have any odds on whether or not the CPU is toast?

I wouldn't risk it unless you can afford to replace the other motherboard easily.

Buying a crappy used AM4 board might be an option.

But if it doesn't work that is money out of pocket, then you might feel enticed to pick up another AM4 CPU to make the motherboard work, and so on.

Do you have any pictures of the cpu? Also, have you cleaned off the corrosion between the pins? Its a gamble honestly, but its an even bigger one if you haven't done any cleanup beforehand.

Yes, I'm considering that, but haven't found anything cheap on Amazon or even FB Marketplace. Might have to look at eBay next.
