My main doubt is the fact that newegg says Open Box Items may or may not include the accesories.. the mobo im looking forward to get is the Asrock Z97 Extreme4.. not if i should go for it just because of the recent complains of power failure resulting the mobo to be K.I.A.. other than that the specs and looks are great and for 105$ only.. its looks awesome but it can be horrible aswell..

Trust, yes. Buy it, no.
The only part you really might miss from the box would be the rear I/o plate.
And even that is not absolutely necessary.

Reading the reviews, I see entirely too many doa reports.

There are many very good Z97 motherboards that are not that expensive.

What features do you need?
If you need only one x16 graphics slot, there is a ECS motherboard for as little as $65

I've purchased a lot of open box motherboards along with other components from Newegg for customer builds. I have yet to get one missing anything other than the retail box. A few had mismatched Sata cables, but the correct number were included. Never missed a wifi antenna, I/O shield, user manual etc.

As well, open box items from newegg still carry Newegg's warranty. If there are any physical issues you can still return it.

I never used them but my buddy has plenty of times and been satisfied. he said its all been In good order and worked out fine . I,m sure theres a few bad apples but that can be with any part new - referb-or open box --

just read and understand there open box policy on whats covered and warranted with that item

I bought a cheaper gpu open box and then got an extended warranty. Never ever needed the warranty after 3 plus years. It was missing the software cd (had to download) and manual.

To add to his point, a mother board is a crappy thing to get faulty, because it can go and fry the rest of your pc parts.

that's my thing why is it open box to start with ??? seems like unless its a store display was it returned due to some issue ?? and most times the savings aint so great over a first quality part [ 5-20 bucks for the risk ?] I'd just assume if needed to wait a week or so if I needed to find that extra 20 bucks and get brand new [opinion] that 40 buck savings maybe worth considering on that board ??

then like I said my buddy bought that I know for sure 4 open box motherboards and all was good for him on that ???

all you can do is what you feel is best for you and how hard if it went wrong will that $104 be to you to loose and have to go with something else ??? and you could buy a brand new board and still get unlucky but you may have better return options or refund
