Hi! I have a Gigabyte B450 AORUS PRO WIFI mobo and I'm wondering if I should update my BIOS? I'm about 2 versions behind, but I'm worried that if I update my BIOS I cannot use my 2nd Gen Ryzen R5 3600. Does anyone know if I can update it?

Solution
Don't update bios unless you have to, if everything working okay now I would just stick with it
None of the newer bios will stop you using CPU, they just add support for newer ones
if you do, and are below F40, follow the instructions in red under each

Gigabyte don't remove support, they add more. Just cause F60 mentions 5000 series, doesn't stop it supporting a 3600. Some motherboard makers have removed support for older CPU on some boards but not yours, 3600 was only released in last few years, that would be nuts.

Hello There!
As @Colif mentioned you dont have to update your bios unless you need to though the F51 seems to fix "security vulnerabilities"
so you might wanna upgrade and again as Colif also mentioned gigabyte wont remove support so i dont think you should have any issue. If i was in your case i might have moved to the F51 bcz the F60 has support for new 5000 series cpus and could have some minor bugs.

There's no good reason to go to F60 unless upgrading to a 5000 series processor. F51 also brings AGESA ComboPi 1006 which does offer memory compatibility improvements in addition to security fixes and several other improvements specific for Ryzen 3000. It might be well worth it...or it might not help with anything but I'd do it if it were mine. Just be patient while it's updating and don't do it in a thunderstorm or any other time your power might be unreliable and it will go fine.

I have an Aorus X570 Elite WIFI, I am 4 bios versions behind newest, and I don't see point in updating to it. I had to use the version I am on as it added support for my CPU (3600XT) but I haven't even felt need to grab a newer bios. I did think about it but I don't think its necessary.
There is no reason to upgrade bios unless you are either grabbing one of those CPU or are having problems.

BIOS updates can sometimes break the motherboard, its why you don't just update them because a new version exists.

Ok thanks! I'm having this error right now, where my Boot drive priority always resets whenever restarting the PC, is that a problem with the BIOS? Or is it a problem with the CMOS battery? Or should I also try resetting my boot drive (its a M.2 SSD)?
