Hey everyone so earlier this year I built a budget pc cause I was on a tight budget and have a rx 470, now that I have been earning more income I wanted to ask since I want to start gaming on 1440p is should i update my gpu to the 1070 and get the acer G257HU or should i wait for the next generation of gpu I can handle gaming on 1080p till those next 2 years. Also I would like to hear yall opinions on a 1440p monitor that I should be looking to get, I want it to 5ms or lower and be ips thank you for your time.

Ok, cpu won't cause any problems then. I would go for gtx 1070 if you realy want to start gaming on 1440p right now and if you already have the monitor (which I think you don't)...but if not, I would wait for about 2-4 months, maybe earn some more money and buy AMDs Vega GPU (probably named RX 490)...it's being released soon (first half of 2017).
And there are some rumours about RX 475 and RX 485. So yeah...I would wait and I will wait (building a new PC myself :) )
I wish you good luck :)

What are the rest of your system specs? You might need to upgrade your CPU as well to avoid bottlenecking a 1070.

In regards to upgrading for 1440p, an RX 470 is about the same as my 970 in terms of performance, and my 970 can handle most games at 1440p okay, though I need to turn settings down in new games. So you could probably get away with it for a bit depending on what games you play.

That said, if you're looking for a better exp, you'd be well off with a 1070 + 1440p.

Hi rivera44000. New GPUs will be comming much sooner than 2 years. Also, please tell us which RX 470 do you have? 1440p gaming needs more VRAM than 1080p gaming.
I have to agree woth Dr Girlfriend...CPU can be a bottleneck, especially in CPU intensive games.
I short: yes, gtx 1070 would bring a big jump in FPS in your games and would definitely handle 1440p gaming better than RX 470.
Your monitor looks grade, you can also check sites like: http://www.blurbusters.com/ they have good reviews on monitors.
Hope I helped :)
