So like titles saids,

I have a 4790k stock never OC'd and I've had it probably Nov. 2014.
The computer part store in my city is having a sale on i7 7700k + Gigabyte Z270x Gaming 5 MB for $464 solid. I was wondering if it would be a good idea to upgrade. But then I would have to upgrade my RAM also. I'm also currently using a Corsair H100GTX and I'm planning on keeping it. Power supply will also be replaced. Currently running a EVGA GTX1070 SC stock.

So I guesstimated approx. $700 or so into the new parts including: CPU,MB,RAM,P.S.

Is this a good investment? I don't do a lot of video editing but I do from time to time, but mainly my PC is used for gaming.
Thanks

That may be true, but the 7700K is not the one to buy as a replacement unless Intel tells us that Z270 will be supported by Coffee Lake. And even then, why buy the 7700K if you can buy a 8700K for the same price in a few short days/weeks? My point is we will find out more on Aug 21st. Wait until then to make a new CPU purchase.

I've recently just got the GTX 1070 last November and my monitor is 144hz so probably not going to upgrade either for some time. I think I'll wait for the Coffee Lake, which I did not know was coming out soon. Thanks for all the wonder and informational replies!
