Question Should I upgrade any of these parts or should I be fine for a couple of years? (Unsure)

Hi Memebers,

I wasn't sure if an upgrade was needed at the moment or whether my current PC is fine for gaming.

GPU - AMD 6900XT
CPU - i9 12900k

I play Games on 2560x1440

Upgrade I was thinking was the AMD 7900XTX - I wasn't sure if spending that cash would gain much apart from a few extra frames here and there?
I also am aware that the 7900XTX has thermal issues overheating 110c and lastly whether I would be suffering from a Bottleneck with the 12900k with 7900xtx?
A website stated a 1% Bottleneck with CPU if I went with this upgrade.

Thanks for answering my Qs

You might want to pass on the titles that you tax the system with.

A system is build using more than just a CPU and GPU. can you please list the specs to your current build like so:
CPU: i9 12900k
CPU cooler:
Motherboard:
Ram:
SSD/HDD:
GPU: AMD 6900XT
PSU:
Chassis:
OS:
Monitor:

A link to your current GPU would aid us two fold.

Anyone who claims a 1% bottleneck does not know what they are talking about.
There is no such thing as "bottlenecking"
If, by that, you mean that upgrading a cpu or graphics card can
somehow lower your performance or FPS.
A better term might be limiting factor.
That is where adding more cpu or gpu becomes increasingly
less effective.

I do not see a RX7900 XTX as a sufficiently large upgrade over your 6900XT to be worth much.
If you wanted more cpu capability, a I9-13900K would be a significant jump.
If you had no budget concerns a I9-13900KS is as good as it gets today.

Your parts are very good for gaming.
How is your performance now?
Some games are cpu limited and some are graphics limited.
Fast action games and higher resolutions will want a good graphics card.
Most cpu intensive games like sims, strategy and mmo will want good single threaded performance.

You could try this simple test:
Run YOUR games, but lower your resolution and eye candy.
This makes the graphics card loaf a bit.
If your FPS increases, it indicates that your cpu is strong enough to drive a better graphics configuration.
If your FPS stays the same, you are likely more cpu limited.

Do you have a budget for an upgrade?

Also, bottleneck calculators are absolutely worthless. They're basically bottlenecks of human life because anything else you would have done in the time you spend on one of them would have been more useful.

So true.

I just upgraded my system last night from a 10900k to an 11900k and 3090 to 4090. For kicks I went to Google and looked up a bottleneck calculator... it told me the 11900k is a 36% bottleneck... Oh really? Not according to my latest benchmarks.

It also said the 12900k was less of a bottleneck than the 13900k.

Worthless info.

I see little reason to upgrade, unless you're upgrading for the sake of upgrading.

Ahh thanks for confirming those website are dogshit lol. I won't pay any attention to them.
My frames so far have been decent I just like to future upgrade so I don't need to bother later down the line.
But from whats been mentioned here its not worth it for a few extra frames. I don't plan on upgrading the CPU unless you guys feel it should be upgraded.

MSI Radeon RX 6900 XT GAMING Z TRIO 16GB Graphics Card << Thats my GPU

I wouldn't... you've got 12th gen with 13th gen being super pricey. The only reason I went from 10900k to 11900k was because a) needed 11th gen for PCIE 4.0 b) it was on sale c) it's the max my board supports and d) my net upgrade cost after selling the 10900k was only $100.
