Should i upgrade my computer?

i purchased a computer back on october 2007
a Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 with 2 gb hard drive and since upgraded the ram to 4 gb and installed new video card Radeon HD 4550 512 MB. i'll be installing windows 7 ultimate edition the one where u dont have to use windows activation key. i don't use my computer other to netscape and video games such as starcraft and counter strike.. i am comtemplating if i should purchase a new computer and if so i am compelled to get one of the best processors such as core 2 quad Q9650 3.0 ghz is there a reason i shouldn't or if i should buy new computer what would be recommended on which computer i should get? keep in mind that i am wanting to buy a dual core quad processor

Cyberpower PC is a safe company to order from, i have personally used them to get a PC for my brother. Reason i did that was so i didn't have to build it for him...

In fact, when it arrived, it didn't even have so much as a fingerprint on it, it was such a nicely put together PC, i was thoroughly impressed. Not to mention they pack it so well, it could have fallen out of a plane and probably survived!

i placed m order on 2-10-10 and they said it'll take 10 days to build and ship my computer and i should probably get it by march 3rd omg why so long??
can't wait tho i hope it's worth it

I'm hope you'll be happy with what you bought PC yunggeh. But seriously, for the things you described I am sorry to say that you're hardly going to notice any performance gain whatsoever. I can tell you from experience. When I jumped from a Pentium 4 to a quad core then yes I did notice a huge improvement but the huge leap really was in Encoding and other such programs that utilize all four cores. I could multi-task better though but it was not that impressive considering what my overclocked P4 Pc with 2gb and Windows XP could do.

The thing is that since you only play a few games that are even extremely well handled by even older generation of cards and considering you had an Ati 4550 I bet you maxed out every game you played, so to buy a new video card was pretty pointless imo, unless of course you are planning to move to newer games then all you needed was a monstrous card to fulfill your needs. Also, if you're not doing any encoding, benchmarking or gaming then really the CPU won't do anything better than what your E6600 would have done if overclocked.

Now a good thing you could have done (well actually you still can do it) is built a Multi-Media or Home Theater PC to go along with your nice big TV. Set it up to record even better than a Tivo, Play HD content more efficiently and transfer content to view on other devices. Now thats flexible!

But congratulations on your build and I hope you enjoy it a lot. Heh I know you will once Starcraft II and Diablo III arrives 😉

do you mean adding great sound system for the computer?? lol sorry i think i'm being stupid.. any advice on how to make my computer a Home Theater or Multimedia PC will be helpful ^^

i havea pentium 4 that i may use as a home theatre system or multi media since i agreed to my friend that i'll sell him the e6600 to him for 200 bucks
even though ihave my doubts he'll be able to gimme that money lol but that's another issue for another website i guess 😛

don't know about that, i really don't mess around with HTPC's much, sure, i use mine as a HTPC when needed, but it's got the components for it. I focus on gaming & general every day PC use.

oh wells that's cool.. just wanted to know but it's not a big deal....
since my apartment walls are thin and anything regular talking like will be heard from next room and can't stand that apt cuz everyday i hear next door neighbors knocking boots and it's driving me insane
