Question Should I upgrade my CPU?

Last year I built my own desktop PC using a B550 Tomahawk Mobo intending to install an AMD Ryzen 7 5800x CPU. Unfortunately I couldn’t quite afford one at the time so I installed a Ryzen 7 3800x instead as a stop gap.
My question is, now I have the cash to buy the 5800x, if I installed it would I notice any increase in performance?
I mainly use my Pc for games namely Elite Dangerous & Microsoft Flight Simulator.
My GPU is an Asus 8Gb 6600XT Gaming OC, coupled with 32gb of 3400Mhz system Ram.

Possibly hold out of the Ryzen 7 5800X3D. That will be the top performer you can put in that socket for gaming.

Nothing wrong with a 3800X though.

I would also recommend waiting on the 5800x3d.
