Should i upgrade my current CPU (i5 3570k 3.4ghz)

Hi all,

Just want to get an idea if upgrading my CPU would be worth while.

Graphics card i currently run is a GTX 970 MSI.

Would upgrading to an i7 be a worthwhile upgrade?

For gaming? No.
For gaming and streaming + rendering 3d work etc.? Yes.

Sorry should have stated what i currently use the PC for, Which would be just gaming.

So if its not worthwhile upgrading the CPU, what about getting a GTX1070 or 1080

A 1070 would be very much merited, and your current CPu will work with it just fine.

Certainly get an overclock l. I just went 3570k 4.3 to 6600k 4.3. Here are some findings:

Crysis 3 jungle, min fps now 44 was 35
Just cause 3 used to dip to 50 now locked at 60
Far cry 4 never drops below 60 in known CPU limited areas.

No difference in other games I have.

Those were CPU limited at times and much improved although probably faster ram helps.

Worth the 400£ outlay? Yes as I can now record without drops pretty much. Really worth it? No. But it's fun.

A 3570k stock will certainly hold u back in some games. At 4.4+ will be very strong still.

Treat yourself to a nice CPU cooler if you don't already have one, and a nice overclock. 4.4+ is very common on 3570k with proper cooling.
