Hi I am using an amd fx 6100 from 2013. I have a Gigabyte 970a-ds3 rev 3.0 motherboard and 8 gb of ddr3 ram. I bought a GTX 960 in late 2015. The fx 6100 showing his age now and not performing well. And I am thinking to upgrade the CPU motherboard and Ram. But I am confused. I listed two cpu. Ryzen 3 1200 and intel i3 81000. So can you guys tell me is it worth upgrading? and which processor to buy. I also heard that the new 8th gen motherboard (non-z) are also coming in late march 2018.

The difference for me is $7 to move from 2400ghz to 3000ghz which is on average 10fps+ gain not from just the RAM speed but from higher stable overclocks.

Any Ryzen + 2400 CL16 RAM= 3.6ghz average overclock
Any Ryzen + 3000 CL14 RAM= 3.9ghz+ average overclock

That is from 14,000 systems that submitted test

It's it worth spending $7-$15 more to gain 10fps or better?

I will play the games at 1080p 60hz panel. so is there will be any differences? ( ryzen 3 1200 % intel i3 8100)

@delaro - for $7 more I have no argument at all.
In india its more like $70 - ram speed makes no difference to possible cpu overclocks - those results are entirely coincidental.

@Soumen 512 - with a 960 @ 60htz - no , no difference.
If the ryzen is substantially cheaper it makes much more sense

Ryzen 3 1200 with a B350 board or ryzen 3 1300x with a cheap A320 board. which combo u suggest?

It depends on if you intend to overclock. Personally I would opt for the 1200 and a b350 board with the intention of overclocking. The A320 board will work fine, but will have no overclocking ability.

Really the 1200 overclocked should reach about the same speeds as the 1300x, and say if you upgrade to a higher end CPU later you could overclock that for extra performance as well.

If he wants to build and not overclock at all he is better off bumping down to a B320 board and using a X chip, the extra money could then be put into higher frequency RAM.
