So im looking to upgrade my pc a little. I game at 1080p and play Minecraft and Rocket League. I get very good fps in Minecraft and in rocket league i get around 100+. Im looking to get a 144hz monitor so i want to make sure my fps stays above 144. If my GPU needs upgrading i will get the GTX 1060 6BG. What should i do?

PC Specs:
CPU- I5 3330 @3.00GZ
GPU- GTX 750 TI
RAM- 8GB

Solution
Unless you can find it on the cheap, going to an I5-3570 or an I7-3770 doesn't make sense these days. Your best bet would be to get a decent graphics card with the intent to carry it forward to a newer core system (CPU/Mobo/RAM) in the near future. If that's not possible in the near future, then don't bother.

your gpu could be upgraded, to a 1050ti or a 1060 but in general those games do depends on the cpu more than on the gpu so both parts could help you here and a faster cpu for minecraft should help you alot

i would put a 1060 and a better i7 on that mainboard, but this also depends on your budget, most i7 worth to upgrade to are expensive, even used parts

Yeah with my budget atm i can only afford either a GPU or CPU

Minecraft is all about the CPU. You already have an i5. This means I would not expect any practical gains from a CPU upgrade if you stick with Ivy Bridge. Meanwhile, you say you're already at about 100fps with Rocket League.

So in effect you'd be spending $200 or more to go from 100fps to 144fps on Rocket League, not to mention the cost of buying a 144hz monitor. That does not seem like a good value to me, but if you have the money and like Rocket League that much...
