Hello, I was wondering if I should upgrade my motherboard fpr my a CPU I will be getting in the future.

My motherboard is a MSI X58A-GD45 (MS-7522)

The CPU I will be getting is an Intel I7 4790k 4.0 GHZ.

My budget is $350.

I really want to upgrade my CPU to complement my new GTX 970, but I'm not sure if I should upgrade my motherboard first.

You'll need to change out your motherboard, yes. It's not an optional upgrade, if your current motherboard is the one you listed it's an lga1366 where that i7 you listed is an lga1150. Different sockets and they're not compatible. If you decide to upgrade to that 4790k, you'll have to do motherboard and cpu at the same time.

Which motherboard would you recommend?

The budget was for the CPU. I was hoping I'd be able to find a high end motherboard as well that is slightly cheaper. I'd have to buy them at separate times and replace my current components once I have the both of them.
