should i upgrade my note 3 manualy

Hello.

I have a galaxy note 3 sm-n9005 snapdragon lte version .

I wanted to know if it is safe/legit to manually upgrade to lollipop or not.
And if i did upgrade it would i get future updates like from 5.0 ro 5.1 or not.

im askin because in my note 1 it took 5 months to get it officaly in my phone while my friends got it instantly.

I suggest you to, wait till official OTA update. it some time takes few months also.
update will reach according to different build & its IMEI numbers. so it may have a delay.
