Hello!
Im thinking about if I should upgrade my pc. For the past year I have mostly been playing older pc-games, and for that my computer has worked perfectly. But Im now thinking about upgrading it to make sure it can handle newer games such as Assassins Creed Valhalla insted of getting any of the new consoles.

My current spes are:
CPU: Ryzen 3 2200G
GPU: NVIDIA Geforce GTX 1650
MB: ASRock B450M-HDV R4.0
RAM: 16 GB DDR4

Since Im not really knowledgeable when it comes to computerparts yet I am asking if there are upgrades I can get with a budget of $700 that is worth getting and what upgrades that might be?
The computer is being used for gaming, schoolwork and Im in the beginning stages of learning to program in Python.

What powersupply do you have?
Considering the current GPU market, you are more likely to upgrade your CPU than your graphics card.
What frequency (MHz) is that ram running at?
I would swap out the motherboard too, the B450 M-HDV is to low-end to be paired with a powerhungry CPU, and you will possibly get worse performance due to VRM overheating.
Something like this would allow you to play everything for more than 5 years initially:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X 3.8 GHz 8-Core Processor ($449.00 @ Best Buy)
CPU Cooler: ARCTIC Liquid Freezer II 240 56.3 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler ($109.97 @ Amazon)
Motherboard: MSI MAG B550 TOMAHAWK ATX AM4 Motherboard ($159.00 @ Amazon)...

What case do you have?
If your case supports 360mm radiator mount on top or the front, i'd suggest going for the 360mm version of the Arctic Liquid Frezzer II.

In what way is your pc not doing the job?

Try this simple test:
Run YOUR games, but lower your resolution and eye candy.
This makes the graphics card loaf a bit.
If your FPS increases, it indicates that your cpu is strong enough to drive a better graphics configuration.
If your FPS stays the same, you are likely more cpu limited.

If you turn out to be graphics limited, you will have a problem.
Because of mining demand, good cards are selling for >2x MSRP, and that is if you can find one.

If you need a cpu upgrade, here is a list of supported processors for your motherboard:
https://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/B450M-HDV R4.0/index.asp#CPU

Your r3-2200g has 4 threads and a passmark rating of 6759. That is when all 4 threads are 100% busy.
The single thread rating is 2054. Single thread performance is arguably the more important for games.

I like the increased single thread performance of the ryzen 5000 series.
Some places, they are in short supply.
A upgrade to a R5-5600X would give you 12 threads and a rating of 22191/3382.

If you do not now use a ssd for windows, that would be one of the best performance upgrades.
Everything you do will seem much quicker.

What is your monitor?
You might want to upgrade that.
Having a second monitor is very nice for desktop work

Have you tried playing the newer games at lower settings to see if your happy with the FPS?

You might need an upgrade if you want 100 FPS at 1440P, but a lot of people don't care.

Just don't get in the unneeded upgrade bug if you don't need it. Try the games you want first, and see if their playable.

According this you should be already able to play at 1080P 30 FPS

I will try out the games and see where I take it from there :)
