I have a ibuypower bb930 with a

ASUS Prime H270-Plus Motherboard

Intel Core i7 (7th Gen) 7700 / 3.6 GHz

16 GB
DDR4 SDRAM
Memory Speed
2133 MHz

Msi GTX 1060 single fan
3 GB

120 ssd

1tb hard drive
I think the power supply is 500 watts. But I seen people say it’s 500-600

I wanted to get a 2070 xc ultra 8gb but my friends told me it’s not that big of a upgrade and my gpu is fine. Should I upgrade or just leave it

u dont need to upgrade 7th gen

just no, if you so desperately want to spend money get 1080ti,
what you mean you think your PSU is 500watts ? you dont know ? you can open up your case and read it

If your pc is not doing what you want, then yes, you should upgrade.

Some games are graphics limited like fast action shooters.
Others are cpu core speed limited like strategy, sims, and mmo.
Multiplayer tends to like many threads.

You need to find out which.
------------------------------------------------------------
To help clarify your CPU/GPU options, run these two tests:

a) Run YOUR games, but lower your resolution and eye candy.
If your FPS increases, it indicates that your cpu is strong enough to drive a better graphics configuration.
If your FPS stays the same, you are likely more cpu limited.

b) Limit your cpu, either by reducing the OC, or, in windows power management, limit the maximum cpu% to something like 70%.
Go to control panel/power options/change plan settings/change advanced power settings/processor power management/maximum processor state/
This will simulate what a lack of cpu power will do.
Conversely what a 30% improvement in core speed might do.

You should also experiment with removing one or more cores/threads. You can do this in the windows msconfig boot advanced options option.
You will need to reboot for the change to take effect. Set the number of threads to less than you have.
This will tell you how sensitive your games are to the benefits of many threads.
If you see little difference, your game does not need all the threads you have.

It is possible that both tests are positive, indicating that you have a well balanced system,
and both cpu and gpu need to be upgraded to get better gaming FPS.
-------------------------------------------------------------

Ibuypower will include a psu strong enough to support only the sold configuration.
500w should be sufficient for a normal RTX2070, but the quality of your psu may be suspect.
Here is a handy sizing chart:

I would suggest something like this.

NVidia is recommending minimum 550 watts for the 2070....plus I'm not that familiar with Apex and I think it might be less than stellar supply as far as quality. I think it would be smart to trust a new gpu to a new supply. You don't want problems....plus you might not have enough wattage to begin with.
