Should I upgrade to an amd fx-6300/ do I have a bottleneck?

Right now I have a amd a6-3600 2.1 ghz quad core and my graphics card is a direct CU II amd r7 260x. Do I have a bottleneck? My fps seems lower than other people with r7 260x. I can buy an fx 6300 for 99$, should I go for it? 100$ is my budget. Thanks!

Yes you have a bottleneck

Those APUs are just not very good cpus and only good as a low low budget option when using integrated graphics. As soon as you upgrade they become a large bottleneck.

An FX-6300 will be a great improvement. Unfortunatly any decent cpu will require you to get a different motherboard as well. FX-____ cpus use an AM3+ socket and your A6 uses an FM1.

Yeah, you need another cpu, but you'll also need another motherboard, save a little more and get the fx 6300 with another motherboard.

Most often you can find the FX-8320 on sale for $140, that is $30 more then the 6300 and would be a very worthwhile upgrade fore the $30.
