Should I upgrade to future proof for DX12?

Hi, I was wondering if I should upgrade or change anything with my hardware now with the upcoming Windows 10 and DX12 on the verge.

2x GTX980 air cooled
i7 3820 over clocked to 4.5ghz air cooled
1st gen X79 motherboard updated software to 3.0 bus speeds
Asus Rog Swift monitor

Playing BF4 I'm avg 120 FPS on ultra at 1440p. But I can't max out Crysis 3 at an enjoyable FPS. My biggest concern is since DX12 can utilize more cpu core efficiently then will I feel like my i7 3820 is not good enough. Also would changing out the motherboard for an extra GTX 980 and upgrading to DDR4 ram be a good move?

A subset of DX12.

But yeah, we're now at the point where people are complaining about free performance upgrades. You see it with DX12, and with the 970. What are we coming to?

Ok thanks. So it seems I am already future proofed for awhile. I haven't played Crysis 3 in awhile but there has seem to be an update either on Crysis 3 side or Nvidia side to increase it's performance? I am playing on ultra at avg 60-70 FPS @1440p according to Shadow Play. But it just doesn't feel that smooth for some reason.

Ok I looked up that SSD and it looks very nice. My main concern is that I don't think I can fit it in between my 2 GC and what would happen to heat issues?

Yea actually that's the main problem where will you fit it. Can you post a picture of your motherboard?
Maybe I can help you with it.

BTW as of now I don't think you really need an upgrade for this year at least. If you're determined to upgrade then yea please consider i7 5960x, you'll be future proofed for a decade ;).

PS:- In your next build please invest in a decent ssd if you are really performance driven gamer.
