Hey guys, so I'm really tempted to buy the 1080 but I'm not too sure and I do have some questions about the different versions.

Ok, so to start off I have 2x 780ti and I game at 1440p. Honestly, the performance isn't too great (atleast thats what I think) and my cards run very hot. One of them idles at 50 C. Also I know the 3GB VRAM must come to play when gaming on 1440p which is not very good.

I originally wanted to wait for the 1080Ti but I'm not sure If I want to wait a year. I'm looking at EVGA's 1080s.

Also here's my question, What exactly is the difference between the founders edition and one like the EVGA ACX 3.0 for example. From the descriptions it seems they run the same and no OC differences.

Thanks guys.

Solution

i got two 970s and im upgrading to a 1070 or maybe two 1070s

Evga has a different cooling system called ACX which it consist of 2 fan instead of only one fan from founders version. The core clock and memory clock remains the same so the original version and this version still the same.

So founders edition simply costs more because of the name and style?

yup and because its out first so they can charge more for the impatient

it is an upgrade for sure
few questions first what is the rest of your pc and 2nd are you planning on playing at 4k

i7 6700k @ Stock
32GB DDR4

I don't plan so until atleast 5 years when 4k is pretty mainstream and the GPU's can handle it at ultra settings.
I currently game on 1440p 144hz

1080 for sure no questions asked unless you can find 1070s for ~350 then two 1070s
