[SOLVED] Should i upgrade to rtx 3080?

Solution
i tihnk its 550

I need more information than just wattage.

Should have a brand and model.

Your CPU has a TDP of 140 Watts.
The RTX 3080 can draw a maximum of 350 Watts.
The rest of your system draw power too. RAM, fan, drives.

If you have a 550 watts that is cutting it close. Meaning the PSU will be running at just under it's max capacity and this is only if your PSU is a good model PSU that can give 550 watts.

I would recommend you replace the PSU for a 650 watts from a good brand and model. If the 750 watts is a few dollars more go for a 750. Headroom is good. Especially if the price difference is minimal.

I will wait for that PSU brand and model. If you can take a picture of the voltages information on the PSU in...

Hi Frazzy.

What resolution are you playing your games and at what refresh rate is your monitor?

You could buy a RTX 3080 if your PSU is a good brand/model and has enough wattage for the card.

That card is overkill for 1080p.

my refresh rate is 165 and i play on 1440p

What is your PSU?

If you want to keep your FPS as close as 165FPS or higher at 1440p I don't see why buying a RTX 3080 would be a bad idea. If you have the money and the PSU just go for it.

That 6 Cores 12 threads CPU will be good for a while.

Personally I’d say 550w is too small regardless of quality. NVidia recommend 750w although that’s when using an i910900k. With your cpu a 650w is the lowest I’d consider safe. When it comes to the psu it is also a piece of safety equipment for your pc, don’t remember so your whole pc on an underrated psu.
