So I am having issues parting out my new system ok so I will be using this rig for gaming, coding, and school work. The most intensive game I will be playing on this system will be GTA V. I am just stuck on what CPU to use I could use the i7-3770K which I can get for £135 or the AMD FX 8350 which I can get for £80 I know you can push the OC on the 8350 to about 5gh with a good cooler I am just to sure what to use.

System Specs
gtx 780
3 dims of ddr3 8gb
500w psu
60gb ssd and 1tb hhd
Corsair Hydro Series H55

the fx8350 isn't "bad"(more or less by the standards of its time), but compared to a 2600k/3770k there are really only a few specific synthetic benchmarks or real world scenarios where an fx 8 core would be faster, even if it is overclocked. the sandy/ivy bridge i7s can more often completely demolish the fx 8 core, especially if they are overclocked.

I guess and the cores on the AMD are really slow

I got a OCed 8320 and for what I do it is good but i got it 4 years ago lol. Intel would be better. Cooler, less power, better single core, better overclocking.

Only thing is that getting NEW parts for the FX would be easier than a 2/3rd gen intel.
