I recently just got a 3080 to replace my 3070 ti and I am currently running on the 2nd newest driver (I didnt install the one from 2 days ago). Should I still use DDU to be safe before installing the 3080 and than just installing the newest driver after installation? I know how to use it properly I just was wondering if its really necessary.

If I dont do it will it just default to the latest driver I had installed on my 3070 ti when I restart after installation?

They will both run the same driver, so why would you need to do a clean install? You do a clean install when you are changing GPU brands, or when you are upgrading a card from an older generation that is no longer covered by the driver version that the new card will be using. 3080 and 3070Ti are both Ampere, so there shouldn't be a reason to reinstall the drivers, unless you think they may have gotten corrupted, somehow. When I pulled the 1050Ti out of my machine and installed a 1080, I didn't do a clean install of the drivers, because they were the same for both cards.
