Either way is fine, just depends on your use and needs.

use for what? if it's storing media to be shared across a network for example, then i'd say one drive or else when you fill up one drive then you have to make another shared folder, etc. I hate having stuff spread across drives. Then it's like Movies A-K on one drives and Movies L-Z on another drive.
