Should I wait to buy a new CPU?

The i7-4930K is in the performance range I want for the best bang for buck but I'm hearing talk about Intel releasing some new CPU's this year.

Are these CPU's supposed to compete with that one? All the pricing sheets and pre-release infO i see cite lower end under $300 CPUs. Should I wait?

Thank you

Right now, the best bang for your buck(for gaming) would probably be i7-4770k, any i7 that is in the enthuasist class(those that use lga2011) are equal in gaming performance so it doesn't justify the 200$ price difference. Im personally waiting for the i7-4790k devils canyon which are designed to replace(not compete) with the i7-4700k. Also the i5 is pretty nifty in some areas but not cpu intensive games.

If you need the enthusiast power cpus, there will be the haswell-e refresh and they are designed to replace the current 6 cores cpu's by intel.

The general rule of thumb is that if you need it now, buy it now, but as devils canyon going to be released around june 2nd, it will most likely be worth the 1 week wait. Again, this is my opinion

From what I heard, the broadwell cpu's will be a "tick" cycle so it will only be a die shrink with little performance difference and uses less power. So waiting a year isn't probably the best option.
