[SOLVED] Should I wipe my hard drive if im going to be upgrading my old pc

SO I've had my gaming pc for almost 6 years now and finally have decided its time to upgrade some parts but my hard drive is full of a lot of crap and runs quite slow and I've only got around 100gb left so i was wondering if it would be worth it if i just wiped my hard drive as I'm not too bothered about the stuff on it anyway and would everything still work fine if I did wipe the drive? I plan on keeping the same motherboard and just upgrading gpu, ram and getting an ssd.

If you wipe the drive as is, you'll have nothing to boot from.
If you install an operating system to the new SSD, you can wipe the HDD without issue (other than data loss), and can use it as a secondary drive.

I tend to leave them for a month or two, just in case there really is something I want but overlooked, like game saves, downloaded emails, Browser favorites...
