Hey,
I've been looking to up the power of my current setup. I want to be able to use SLI but I've never used it before. I'm looking to SLI GTX 580s. I don't know how to read the type of connectors a power supply has. My current setup is a i5 2500k, 3 120mm fans, 1 ssd, 1hdd. Can some one clarify the connector names and what they do? Like atx 4 8? and suggest a power supply I can use for the new setup? I've done the calculations for using watts and it suggested anything 800 or more should be good.

the pci x 6+2pin can be basically both, you use the 6 pin if its a the gfx needs 6 pin and use the extra 2 pins if its an 8 pin power connector. Basically a corsair 850w will have the right power requirements and power connectors for 580 sli

Ok. What are the connector names I need to know for SLI 580? I know it takes 1 6 pin and 1 8 pin, is it "PCI-E 6+2 Pin", "PCI-e 6 pins", or "8/6-Pin PCIE connector"? And what kind of amps on the 12 volt should there be for SLI? Thanks
