Hey, I have Lenovo's IdeaPad 100s laptop and it doesn't shut down from the start menu. I have to log out so I can shut down the PC. I reinstalled Windows yesterday and the problem is still there.
Do you know what could cause this?

Specs:
Intel Celeron N3050
not sure about the graphics
2GB of RAM
32GB SSD

Solution
Go to "WIN" + "I"

System

Power & Sleep

Additional power settings

Check the various settings available via the configuration screens and look closely at the "Change plan settings" being applied".

And "Change advanced power settings". Check the various drop down boxes...
Personal or company laptop?

Normally you would want to log out before shutting down. Otherwise data may be lost.

Are you seeing the "shutdown anyway" message?

Just click accordingly.

Or do you want to have the laptop just shutdown bypassing the prompt?

Okay. Just wanted to exclude some mandatory "log out" requirement.

My thought is that the Windows 10 reinstall reverted your laptop back to some default power settings/configuration.

Type Win + I and select "System". Go into "Power & Sleep" to review the configuration settings. Note that there are some "Additional power settings" under "Related settings" in the upper right window area.

Google "Windows 10 shutdown without logout" for additional options that may viable with respect to your laptop.
