Shutdown problem with Abit SA6R! Please help!

Hi everyone!
Yesterday I've bought the Abit SA6R m/b for my new PIII processor.
Everything works smoothly but I've got a problem I can't seem to solve so I hope there's anyone there willing to help me about this matter.
The problem comes when I want to turn off my computer.
When I press the power button, the pc won't
turn off but it's like if it resets it and only if I keep on pressing the button for a while the machine shuts down.
Now this is very annoying 'cause it causes the restart of the whole machine everytime I want to turn off my pc and it may cause damages to the whole system.
I checked the cables and everything is connected the right way! So I wonder what could be wrong about it! The case is the same I had with another m/b and it worked perfectly before.
Please, if possible, suggest me what to do about this thing!

Thanks in advance!

Why are you shuting down the PC with the power button? You only do that if you like scandisk.

If windows hangs through the start/shutdown then check what is still running first and try disabling them one at a time to see if this fixes it, also load windows shutdown supplement

Thanks for your prompt reply!
I have to turn off the computer with the power button 'cause
Windows doesn't shutdown itself...instead of turning off the machine, it resets it and then I have to press the power button to turn it off (and when I do this it resets it again and then turns it off).
There are no programs still opened or halted so I don't know why it doesn't shutdown correctly! 🙁

What is the "windows shutdown supplement" you were talking about?! (I have Win2k)

Thanks again!

Hi

Windows shutdown supplement is for 98 not 2K. Its new days for this board, sound like a bios problem and there are no bios updates. IF you are using RAID controllers then try not to.

I suggest you start by installing min components and win2K only, if the problem still exists and you cant fix it then send it back.

There is WWW.sar6.com but the site is too new for posts.

Thanks again!
Thanks also for the website address! I'll check that out
often!
