everytime i click shut down in windows me, windows shuts down, the monitor goes blank, but the cpu does not shut down, i can hear the cpu fan spinning which is connected to the power supply, In order to shut down i have to shut off the power supply, hitting the power on/off switch wont do anything, do i have my connectprors connected the wrong way or something? and if so whats the correct way? thanks

do you have a ATX power supply? what is your system?
only ATX power supplies support auto power shutoff

Not sure about this one, but try killing the DPMI stuff in your bios. Basically, no power management by the bios, but leave the power management turned on so windows has something to play with.
