[citation][nom]tayb[/nom]I'm sure they are shaking in their boots about a couple thousand people not buying the PC version of their game. The Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of COD4 outsold the PC version by almost 7:1 and that margin is going to be even larger this time around because of a much large console install base. The fact of the matter is that PC versions of games are on the back burner now because there isn't as much money to be made.[/citation]

There are already over 70,000 petition signatures, promising not to buy this game unless there is dedi and mod support. In case you cant count, that's just over 4 million dollars in lost sales. And this petition hasn't even been up over the entire weekend.

Maybe you're wealthy enough to scoff off 4 or 5 million dollars (Or more likely sitting on your parents couch eating their food and using their electricity) But activision wont.

All this crap about no dedicated serves and such is gunna make more people pirate this game that would have originally purchased this game....Im still going to buy it..Still looks awesome.

They won't be getting any money from me. Plenty of other games to buy/play this holidays without having to resort to playing this console game.

lol. 70,000 signatures? Oh wow! Now you have them scared. Just like those hundreds of thousands of signatures really effected the release of Left 4 Dead 2? IW could care less about your 70,000 or so signatures. There are about 30 million more consoles on the market I think they'll exchange your 70,000 signatures for a couple million more sales on the console. Go ahead and don't buy the game, IW could literally care less. Whether or not PC gamers cry and whine and boycott the game they are going to make hundreds of millions in revenue from this game so go right ahead. The only people missing out are the names on that signature. Hey, good for you guys!

Petitions = worthless. Does Blizzard care about the petitions related to Starcraft? Nope.

I don't want to get into any flame war or anything.. I'm just curious where you found the sales data for the PC version?

I found some numbers for COD4:MW

X360 = 7.83 million units
PS3 = 4.66 million units
DS = .62 million units

Total = approx 13.11 million units sold for consuls.

That is as much I could find... for some reason I'm not finding PC sales numbers. I looked for curiosity sake.. but I hit a dead end. I guess what people say is it is hard to account for all the digital sales numbers for the PC.

Your 7:1 ratio, going by the numbers up top, put it at about 1.87 million PC copies sold. Does that sound right? I would have thought it was more due to the popularity of the game.

Can anyone find some sales numbers for PC?

I know, 70,000 people don't matter, right? Lets not mention that those 70,000 signatures came to be in less than 3 days. And you're absolutely right, if IW doesn't fix this problem, they don't care about the PC gamer. Which means one thing, I wont be buying the game.

Who's missing out then, hmmm? Not me. I'll gladly spend my 60 bucks somewhere else. You go right ahead and spend yours on an 8 hour single player campaign. No one cares how you waste your money. And no one will be playing multiplayer with you either.

sigh....I tried to convince Tayb before about this. He just doesn't want to acknowledge that PC gaming is profitable (or that WoW and Steam exist for that matter!)

i refuse to buy this game a s well.i can spend my money elsewhere and who knows i may just do a pirate on these greedy bastards who frakked up a great franchise

@tayb:

this really isn't an issue of a console or PC version selling more or less, it's about losing numbers on any one given platform. They put in the money to develop a PC version and intend to make a profit there. Perhaps the profit will be smaller than the profit made on the console side, but that is irrelevant.

What is relevant is a large decrease in ROI on a single platform, and a massive backlash by the community and millions of dollars lost by their most dedicated fans - the very fans who spread the word and make the community so worthwhile for those not as dedicated.

Seeing as how supporting dedicated servers does not take a massive effort on IW's part, it's less a matter of them "adding" the feature and more an issue of "not cutting" the feature.

This has caused a bigger wave than they anticipated and is frankly a bad business move. Not only are gamers upset because of the loss of feature, but many clans already paid to have servers rented/setup and ready to go. Server companies are also upset at loss in profits. These aren't profits that would go to IW instead, rather, they take load off of IW's servers and make other gamers and companies happy.

Overall there is not a single positive thing that can come out of this for IW. They didn't save money and they upset customers.

I would not be surprised to see a statement saying that due to community response, IW will be supporting dedicated severs alongside IW's matchmaking service. Likely, the functionality will be included in either a day zero patch or a patch shortly after launch.

Dont matter now, for the Delay.. If no Dedicated server support, then this will be a gigantic free for all.. I like my Clann, I like my Group.. I hate playing with just random people..

I was going to go out and get this on release day, but now I don't think I'm going to get it at all. A group I am a part of frequently holds Lan parties and play COD4 at them, no reason to get this game now.

[citation][nom]itswald0x[/nom]no dedicated servers.."If you have never played on a PC, and your multiplayer experience has only been delivered to you via matchmaking, then you will never really understand. But try to imagine a host hosting a game while never turning his console off, and you can always reach that room and play there whenever you want, night or day, because its always on. Now imagine that host has a Pentagon grade internet connection and his X360 can handle 64 players in that room. On top of that, the guy whos the host is actually resurrected Ghandi, so you will all be treated with respect, anyone using racial slurs, being offensive or just detrimental to gameplay experience via TKing or exploiting glitches, is going to be removed from that server forever. Now imagine dozens and dozens of custom maps running on that server, which you will get for free, because IWs not making them. Then imagine entire communities and forums built around that one room (server). You recognize people who visit that same room, you befriend them, you have fun with these familiar folks. The story goes on, and that's what were missing. All of it is gone."read that and you'll know why that just kills the game for the PC community.[/citation]

You're retarded. Everybody knows mods on cod4 suck and admins suck anyways.

[citation][nom]fonzy[/nom]The PC community are the ones who built the Call of Duty Franchise in the first place.This will come back to haunt them.[/citation]
My name is *awesome Italian sounding name*. You killed my father, prepare to die.

It was obvious it was a rumor with no evidence at all, so I never had any doubt that it wasn't true. And I find it hilarious how gullible some people are that they freak out over shit like that.
