Signs of cpu failure

Hi

I would like to know what are some signs of cpu failure/defect. I recently purchased a new cpu and built a new computer. I have noticed that occasionally my mouse would lag for 1/4 a second and then continue to move again. I can't help but wonder if my cpu is defected.

tried using the hirens boot cd

but after selecting the hard drive test, autoscan doesn't show my hdd

i try using enter manually and just clicked something like the default ide port and it let me do a surface test, however the number of errors increase at the same rate the sectors are being scan so im pretty sure that's not my hdd
any idea?

Also, I tried looking at event view and there are 17xx errors even tho my hdd is only 1 week and a half old. how can i fix this

RMA the drive..its not unusual for even a 1 day old drive to fail...

working on it, but i bought it outside of us so it's gonna be a challenge.

But are there no way of getting the hdd show in hirens? it's just not showing so idt it is necessarily a hdd failure?
